England vs NZ

NZ by 13+

Wales vs Australia

Australia by 12 and under

Ireland vs South Africa

South Africa by 12 and under

I suspect NZ will beat England, Scotland and Wales.

Australia will beat Wales and Ireland but lose to England and France.

SA will win all their games too.

You may (or not) be interested that Chris Robshaw, Jordan Turner-Hall and George Merrick are in my office as I type. They didn't recognise me though.

Well obviously they played not as well in the 4 friendlies... probably as they was friendlies... don't you worry they will probably make the WC best XV next year

Re: That time of year again....
Of course not NS, but people like Brodie Retallick, you know, IRB Player of the Year Brodie Retallick, would probably get a look in.

As would McCaw, Read and Savea....all the best players in the world in their respective positions.

I'd like to hear an argument against including them.

Must be difficult knowing you are probably only a chance at your 3rd choice though NS?

Re: That time of year again....
1. RWC
2. 6 N's
3. Autumn friendlies

Sorry if that cuts you to the core Jonah but that's how it is

Ronald - not sure you could rely on them actually. Remember they booed Richie McCaw when he got his MoM award, chucked homophobic abuse at Nigel Owens etc etc.

Not everyone obviously.

I couldnt agree more lomarse.

Re: That time of year again....
So now it's ONLY the RWC and 6N that matter?

With all due respect NS, that's absolute bullshit.

I guess when you don't win many of them you start to look at them differently.

Jonah... these games are a warm up to the 6N's... when victories count... come on you should know that

I was disappointed that the RFU opted for a minute's applause.
I'd have thought a rugby crowd could be relied upon to observe a minute's silence.

As an outsider it appears there is one outstanding team prone to CHOKING and a bunch of others (SA Aust England Wales Ireland France) that you could throw a blanket over in terms of being possibles on their day.
That's not a bad PREMISE on which to enter a World Cup

Re: That time of year again....
England were the better team in the first 40 minutes against the kiwis, and deservedly went into the break leading, but there's no benefit in winning half a game.

S struggling with the fact that no points are awarded for friendlies, Jonah?

Jonah Lomas 6:50 Sun Nov 30
Re: That time of year again....
Quite right Ronald....international rugby isn't "friendlies" and competitions, like football.

Perhaps it is if you're an England supporter, I don't know.

You're also right that both the games against NZ and SA were only close on the scoreboard, not the actual balance of the match, and while some might all suggest that the scoreboard is the only thing that matters, so a close result is still a close result, I would counter that by suggesting that a loss is still a loss, and you don't get anything for losing.

Anyway, England only beat Australia and Samoa...teams only just inside the Top 10.

And yes, the 3rd/4th playoff has to be the worst game to "qualify" for.

Perhaps Lancaster should take at look at selecting you. You are very good at going on the defensive.

Whilst our losses were narrow, the games merited a wider margin. We made a lot of errors.
I'm very happy that we beat Australia (more so than most on here, given where I live), but there wasn't much to merit optimism. The result could have gone the other way.

And, by the way, there's no such thing as a friendly rugby test match.
Apart from, perhaps, the WC 3/4 play-off.
Jonah?

Re: That time of year again....
The good thing to come out of the 4 matches was some of our usual replacements getting starts and performing superbly... nice knowing once we get something resembling our first choice XV that players like Marler, Wilson, Attwood etc can come on and perform at the highest level... just need a bit of luck on the injury front and I'll don't think we will be too far off
